A Widow’s Bed

Will you remember me from beyond?
If I call out will you respond?

I reach my hand for you every night
Only to find my throat go tight

Each passing day it is clear
That you are really gone, my dear

I hope that these are just dreams
But they are real, so it seems

And so each day goes on by
I wonder when I'll start to cry

I miss you, love, with all I am
I wish I did not give a damn

Yet here I walk from night to day
Without the heart I gave away

My life feels like a massive con
Now that you are dead and gone.

By An Immortal

Although I could not stop for death
He kindly stopped for me
And caught in my current state
I had to let him be.

And though the world turns on
My clock’s forever stopped
Yet the aging of the ones I loved
Continued still to shock

When he looks upon me
And knows I will not age
He turn away with sadness
Of which I can not gauge

Although I could not stop for death
He kindly stopped for me
His hand will go straight through mine
For all eternity.
